my star-spangled banner: “charming spot, inspiring prospects”
this performance is a fishbowl
Dates TBD
my star-spangled banner is an immersive installation confronting the oppressive cycles of the American two-party political system—a system that feeds on division, fear, and whiplash. Blending live performance, projections, and interactive activities, the piece invites audiences to wander through a muted, mirror-like environment that exposes the cultural feedback loops suffocating our collective ability to care for one another –the loops that foster fierce tribalism and the impulse toward domination.
This project is a survival experiment. What new possibilities emerge when we soften our gaze to allow our imaginations the space to expand? Can we then reclaim the creative agency needed to move past a society fixated on dividing and diminishing itself – intent on harm? This installation provides a testing ground for embodying new ways of relating and being in our immediate environment, moving toward the threshold of other worlds.
for posterity: proof of free will
Dates TBD
for posterity: proof of free will is a future oral history of the conclusion to the human race. It takes the form of a panel discussion, including Q and A with the audience. The panelists speak about their personal experiences and examine the broader human and planetary impacts of the collective decision to no longer reproduce, in a moment when runaway climate change was beginning to break down the stability of organized human civilization and humanity stood at the brink of nuclear catastrophe.
